Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Day is a chance to start the year off right by making an impact in your community. There’s no no shortage of events and volunteering opportunities this weekend around the Bay Area. If you’re interested in volunteering in Oakland, please check out the events at the Oakland North blog!

I leave you with a quote by Dr. King:

“Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”

Feel free to share your plans to honor our hero in the comments!

Winter greens

Happy New Year! Wow it’s been awhile! What better way to start the new year great than by incorporating some healthy vegetables into your meals? Here’s a fun illustrated guide to winter greens by a lovely artist in Berkeley. Dark leafy greens are packed with vitamins and minerals and are great in salads, soups, stir-fry’s, or simply by itself!

Have you made any dishes recently with any of these winter greens? Please share in the comments!

Also, be sure to check out the Farm Stand every Saturday, 10am-2pm! Check out Oakland Food Connection for more Info.
